The sides of the box are covered in paper that is painted to represent lapis lazuli. On the cover is a shadowbox scene. There is a view of Whitehall in the background and in the foreground are two toy guardsmen on horseback. The cover is surrounded by a border consisting of two rows of dots. The sides are mirrored. The interior has a checkered design.
