Creator(s): Meissen Porcelain Manufactory (Manufacturer)

On view in: Marjorie Post's Bedroom Hall

About this object

The teapot/statuette is made in the shape of a mother monkey with two young monkeys. She holds one in her arms while he bends back to form a spout with his open mouth. The other mankey clings to her back and holds a bowl which forms the opening for filling the pot. The mother monkey is squatting and has her head turned to one side, her left. All three are white with touches of brown on the heads, arms, feet and tails. The mother monkey wears a yellow and gold belt and the baby on her back wears a belt in pink and gold.
