About this object

The figurine is a part of the allegorical set known as the "French four seasons." It represents Spring as a young boy holding a garland of flowers in his raised hands. Behind him is a trunk-like base covered with clusters of flowers and leaves. He wears a white attire: brimmed hat, jacket, vest, pants, and boots all edged in gold. He has crossed straps over his shoulders from which hang a bottle on his left and a fringed pouch on his right. The figure stands on a molded rococo base highlighted with gold.
