About this object

The subject of the statuette is probably Venus and Adonis. They stand in the center with two putti at their feet. One is seated to the left and is holding a gold horn. The other is standing with a quiver on his back, and a bow at his feet. There are two dogs. One is spotted and lying down. The other is white with spots and is scratching behind its ear. Adonis stands to right of the center and is holding a bow. He has a quiver on his back, and his arm around Venus. He is wearing a drapery around his hips and upper legs. Venus wears a light green drapery and a flowered skirt. Behind them is a tall white column supporting a white bust. At the base is an oval shield.
