About this object

These ten "Queen's Beasts" were designed for the Coronation of Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953 by Mr. James Woodford, O.B.E. and were set up at the annex at Westminster Abbey. The White Lion is silver colored, ans holds the blue and mulberry red shield of the House of York which bears a white rose amid rays of sun.
