About this object

The statuette shows a Black African man dressed in an elaborate costume. He wears a skirt of feathers in various colors, over which is a cloak in dusty blue painted with flowers and with a pink lining. On his head is a headdress in the shape of an elephants head. He holds under his left arm a sheaf of grain and colored flowers and in his right hand is a gold scepter. The base is white with rococo scrolls.
