About this object

Pastoral trophies and colorful clusters of fruits and flowers finely painted on a white ground and surrounded by gold frames enliven this tray. In the central medallion a bird cage and sheath of wheat are painted among other motifs. The tray, with its sinuous outline, has gilded scroll-shaped handles and leafy branches in relief.

Signature marks:

MARK The platter and pot were originally marked with the crossed L's, the crown and a date letter in gold, now almost entirely effaced. Each piece is also marked 2000 in gold for the gilder Henry-Francois Vincent the Younger (1753-1806). The marks were probably obliterated during the French Revolution. .3 (platter) with Bo incised- for Bono (Etienne-Henry), soft paste repairer (see also 24.134.6 and vase 24.15.3).
