About this object

Dark blue silk velvet evening bag set into an enameled rectangular frame. The silk body of the bag is cut in a circular shape and is gathered at the upper center with a row of pleats sewn to a curved yoke featuring a self-covered thumb tab. The gold frame is inlaid with an enameled, radial, triangular design of varied-colored shades of blue. A horizontal diamond shape at the center is inset with pave diamonds and each edge of the frame repeats this theme with inlaid diamond triangles. The bag fastens at the top with a carved lapis lazuli turkey. The handle strap is of the same silk velvet with a knot at each gold loop. Interior is lined with blue silk satin, two card pockets.
