About this object

The pillbox style hat has a cut-away wave edge, terminating in the back with a downward peak. The form is covered in a gray-blue silk, crepe back, satin Charmeuse with a long nap. Each “corner” in ornamented in gray-blue with a cluster of feathers fanning out right or left toward the side of the hat. Layers of color begin white, then gray, white and topped with gray. In front, the clusters interlace (gray and gray) where they meet, while in the back there is a slight overlap. The interior is cream color taffeta lining with the maker’s name stitched in red threads with a “+” stitched to indicate the front
