About this object

The hoop of the ring is composed of two fantastic animals. They reach up and grasp the bezel which is set with a carnelian in the shape of a half melon. The carnelian is indented with eight lines that curve around the side of the stone. The bezel is carved with a series of sharp pointed scallops. The animals have thick paws, flattened heads and long, scaly, reptile-like bodies, that merge in the center back of the ring.
