About this object

Entire outer surface is covered with delicate paintings, mostly after pictures by Nicholas Lancret. On the longer section are two scenes, one with a young couple walking, and one with a young girl carrying a water pitcher. On bottom is a landscape with farm buildings. On sides of upper section is a continuous landscape with two girls seated under trees and facing each other. On top is a landscape with a single farm house. Gold mounting in 18th century style.
