About this object

Central portion is a large green glass bowl mounted in ormolu. From lower section rise four ormolu branches each decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves and ending in bobèches for candles. From each bobèche hangs faceted glass drops. Around the upper part of the green glass bowl is a scroll in ormolu and from this rise five female herms supporting an ormolu corona. On the corona are five small green glass bowls mounted in ormolu with gilt metal spray coming out of the bowls and ending in glass drops simulating a fountain. From the corona hang chains of glass crystals which fall and are attached to the bobèche. At top is a green glass bowl for a shade. The upper section seems to be a later addition. Both the color of the green glass and the clear drops differ significantly from the lower portions of the fixture.
