About this object

The oval base of the frame is made from mottled marble with a band of beading in ormolu. The rectangular frame has an acanthus border. It is supported on the bottom by two upcurling scrolls ending in protomes of cupids. At the top is a lovers knot. The rectangular miniature shows MMP in a pose similar to a portrait by Salisbury. She is facing to the left in a three quarters pose. She wears a fur over her shoulders, and a dark dress. She also wears the sapphire necklace.
