About this object

The base of the frame is made from a rectangular piece of mottled marble with an ormolu band of beading. The frame itself has an elaborate design of scrolls and leaves along the side and there is a boy as a protome on either side. At the top is a vase of flowers. The frame is oval in shape and contains a miniature portrait of Marjorie Merriweather Post in 18th century costume. She is seen almost full length and is wearing a Marie Antoinette costume. She faces to the left and holds an outspread fan in her right hand. Her other hand is placed on her hip.
