Creator(s): Edward F. Caldwell & Company, Inc. (Maker)

On view in: French Drawing Room

About this object

The white marble base of the frame has a step back near the two rounded ends. The frame itself is made from ormolu with an elaborate design of leaves and clusters of flowers, which intertwine around the edge of the frame. The ormolu is decorated with bands of dark blue enamel to create an accent. It contains a miniature of Marjorie Merriweather Post dressed in an 18th century costume to represent Marie Antoinette (see 48.136.1-3). She is facing to the right and is seen three quarters length. Her hair is dressed high and powdered. The background is plain.
