About this object

On the lid in niello is a view of the Kremlin from the Moscow River. On the reverse is rectangular reserve with the initials E.R. (for Ernesto Rossi) surmounted by five-pointed noble’s coronet. Surrounding this is an all over floral scroll design in niello. The side are ornamented with are bands of meanders in niello with strips of gilding between them.
