About this object

On the cover of this rectangular box is a view of a city square executed in niello against a stippled gilt ground. It is possible that it illustrates a view of Moscow with the Bolshoi Theatre building in the center of the scene. The side have a criss-cross design in niello and on the underside is a picture of a chateau in the country, also in niello with a stippled gilt ground.
