About this object

Square with rounded edges and a mound like top. On each of the four sides is an upright oval each with a view of some part if the Kremlin. Scenes are in niello on a silver background. Rest of four sides of each box has an elaborate scroll work carved in the silver with a niello ground. Covers are shaped like a low mound. In center is a reserved medallion intended for a monogram. Background has same silver and niello scroll design as the side except one has intertwined in the background the Russian word for tea. Both washed gold in interior. Tea has inner cover.
