About this object

The elaborate silver frame is made in openwork. It has a small candleholder at each side on a hinge so that they move. Around the frame are seven cartouches with scenes in niello on silver, each inscribed with a name. Around the scenes is silver openwork is a design of leaves and flowers. The feet are tendrils of branches ans end in round balls. The top has a dove on each side. They have outstretched wings and hold a tablet in their mouths. At the very top is a dove holding a laurel wreath and sitting on a cluster of flowers and leaves. The frame is basically rectangular with an arched top. At the bottom is an inscription in Armenian and the date 1900. The frame has no relation to the photo.(56.2)
