About this object

The cover of the box is set with a seven sided flat piece of bloodstone with beveled edges. The silver mount follows the shape, the frame for the cover being carved in the silver with stylized foliage. The bottom in silver has the same shape but curves downward. Set in the bottom is an oval medallion engraved with sprays of flowers, the initials IP and the date 1771. The interior is gilt.
