About this object

The candlesticks were first cast in several parts, hammered, carved, engraved and then fitted together. In general, the style is French. The bell-shaped bases spread out and become somewhat rectangular with garlands of leaves carved around the lower parts and tied at intervals with ribbons. The bell-shaped portions are fluted and have a row of beading around the lower parts and carved leaves about the upper. The fluted item tapers downward. There are carved leaves and acorns around the base and wave motifs around the top of the stem. Two garlands of oak leaves and acorns are twisted around the stems. The tops are urn-shaped, the lower part with leaves and the upper part fluted. The detachable bobeches have beaded edges. Both candelabras came with their original Fabergé wood case.
