About this object

The bowl is decorated with garlands and swags of leaves while below there is a series of acanthus leaves. The base has a garland of leaves running around it. The interior is fitted with a shallow bowl, possibly for salt. The cover, like a flattened bell, has two borders of inverted leaves, the upper row of leaves being slender, the lower ones rather squat. The cover is surmounted by the Imperial two headed eagle and the Imperial crown.
