About this object

The rectangular bloodstone seal has a cut intaglio with a coat of arms. It shows a shield for a baron, supported by a lion and a griffin with a motto on a banderole below and a crown above. The rectangular bloodstone has a melon-like backing in gold. Above this is an elaborate scrolled support for a ribbed ring which would attach to a watch chain.
