About this object
An etui, or bodkin holder, is a decorative container used to hold bodkins (hairpins), toothpicks, or other small tools.
The egg is made from two pieces of bloodstone. It is in a gold cage. The upper part has rococo scrolls and roses and an inscription on a white enamel ground. The lower part has a gold cage of rococo scrolls but no roses and is more open so as to show the bloodstone.
